- Empty Small Box
- animal crackers box works great
- Construction Paper
- 2 Plastic lids from a water bottle or milk
- Crayons, Markers or Paint
- Exacto Knife (adult use only)
- Tape or glue
- Shiny Wrapping Paper
How to Make a Camera
Step 1: Cover the animal cracker box with colored contruction paper.
Step 2: Adults only: Using the exacto knife, cut a hole in the middle of the box the same size as the plastic lid.
Step 3: Place the lid in the hole but don’t push too hard. You want the lid to rest in the hole but not go inside.
Step 4: Cut a piece of ribbon to go from the side of the lid to the side of the box. This will be your lens cover strap. Hot glue the ribbon to the lid and the side of the box.
Step 5: Hot glue the other lid to the top right side of the box. This is the pretend trigger for taking your pretend pictures.
Step 6: Poke a small hole in the back of the box directly opposite of the hole that was cut in the front. This is your peep hole that you will view the scene for your pictures.
Step 7: Now decorate your camera. You can decorate both the front and back and sides however you like.
For a fun sight sensory activity using this kids craft idea, have the kids go around the room or outside taking pictures of items they see and like. Ask them to tell you what they see through their peep hole.
