  • Green and Yellow Paint
  • 1 Toilet Paper Cardboard Roll
  • White, Green and Red Paper
  • Black and Yellow Markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Double Stick Tape

How to Make a Paper Plate Lizard Puppet

Step 1: Paint the bottom of the plate green. Paint the inside yellow and let the paint dry.

Step 2: Fold the paper plate in half with the green on the outside.

Step 3: Cut the cardboard roll in half and cover each half with green paper.

Tip: You can glue the paper in place but it is easier to use double stick tape.

Step 4: Cut out 2 circles the size of the roll with white paper. Draw on eyes with the black and yellow markers. Glue these to the top of the plate to make the eyes.

Step 5: Using the red paper, cut out a tongue and glue to the inside of the plate.

Step 6: Lastly, cut a strip of paper 2 1/2 to 3″ wide and about 3/4 of the length of the plate. Glue the two ends of this strip to the bottom of the plate leaving enough of a gap between the strip and plate to place your thumb.

To work this paper plate puppet, simply place your thumb in the strip and two fingers into the eyes and move his mouth.
